SOO Line Pacific #2719 Being Prepared for the Last Fan Trip

Before #2719 was eligible to pull the final steam fantrips, a flue inspection was required. A few flues were selected for inspection and after viewing, a flue extension was granted for the trips. Notice that there are two cuts in the smokebox front at the 8 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions which allow a 2 inch flue from each side to be removed. You can still see these marks on the front of #2719's smokebox today. - photo credit Richard E. Thompson

After the flue tubes were inspected the flues were reinstalled and the openings filled in. - photo credit Richard E. Thompson
