In locomotive practice, with the usual two-cylinder arrangement
(each cylinder in reality an engine),
the main crank pin on one side leads the main crank pin on the other side
by an angle of 90 degrees, the valve motion being adjusted accordingly.
Thus, when the engine on one side is on the dead center, the engine on
the other side is on the quarter - in position to furnish power
for movement. |
