| The action in the Altoona Roundhouse reached a fevered pitch in April. Many projects had to be completed to allow other tasks to proceed. |

Lee and Gary prepare to lift the front of the locomotive with the 150-Ton
jacks.
|

|
The jacks will raise the locomotive about 13 inches in
one stroke. Lee and Gary watch to see that the lift remains level and one jack
does not outpace the other. |

| Lee is working on the equalizer pins today and that
necessitated the raising of the locomotive. The lift removed approximately
15 tons of pressure that was pushing on this pin.
|

| Pete and Robby attack the accumulation of grime,
roundhouse dust, grease, sprayed boiler water-treatment compound and other
matter in prepartion for painting later in the month.
