Soo Line #2719 moved from Spooner to Hixton on October 5, 2000. The train
departed Spooner at 7:15 A.M. and moved onto Hayward Junction, where it
transferred to the Wisconsin Central's Superior Subdivision.
A last minute hitch prevented the open window coach of the Wisconsin Great Northern RR from joining the excursion. Thanks to some quick action and hard work by President and General Manager Greg Vreeland and his dedicated crew, a major delay was averted. #2719 traveled through Ladymmith and joined the Minneapolis Subdivision at Owen. #2719 transferred to the Valley Subdivision at Junction City. From there the train moved to Wisconsin Rapids and proceeded onto the Fox Valley & Western tracks (Whitehall Subdivsion) and headed west to Hixton where it tied up until the trips on October 7th & 8th. |

Now where did those 17 tons get to? Notice the trap-door at the rear-bottom of the hopper. This provides access to the stoker drive transfer case. |
