The Chippewa Valley Railroad was founded in 1977 as anon-profit organization. The CVRR operates on a one-half mile track in Eau Claire's Carson Park. The normal operating season starts on Memorial Day, then every Sunday and holiday, and continues through Labor Day. Hours of operation are 12 noon until 5:00 P.M.

Preparation for the public operating days activities start about 10:00 A.M., and these include firing up and performing maintenance on the steam and F7 engines and setting out the trainsets for the day. Visitors are always welcome to observe the work crews.

Memberships are available at the CVRR. A one yearmembership (15 and above) is $5.00. New members (18 or older) may elect to learn to drive a gas powered replica of an EMD F7 locomotive or one of the two steam powered locomotives. New members will first learn engine and train handling techniques using the F7 locomotive their first year and may choose to learn steam locomotive operation and maintenance their second year.

Behind the scenes there is lots of work to do from equipment maintenance to track alignment and ballasting. Members meet Thurday evenings from 7:00 P.M. until about 9:00 P.M.; and Sundays from 12 noon until 3:00 P.M during the normal operating season.

If you wish to join the CVRR or renew your membership please
