Winter 1999 Projects

   Work continues during the off-season to keep all the equipment safe and sound.

   Two aggressive projects are currently underway and involve raising the boiler of steam locomotive #16 by three inches, and building a new passenger car. This work is highlighted in the photos below.


Andy dry fitting the new boiler braces on CVRR #16. The boiler is being lifted to add a new ashpan assembly and create better ashpan clearance under the firebox.

Here Andy is drilling new mounting holes in the boiler sideplates, which have had 3 inch extensions welded onto them.

   The first machined sideframe of the new car is cleaned and ready for painting.

   A newly completed axle and wheel assembly is ready to have the wheel treads machined.
